שם כללי לנוזלים אשר אינם מסיסים במים (הידרופוביים) ויוצרים משטח חלק כאשר הם נשפכים על חומר קשה. מקורו יכול להיות אורגני או מינרלי. הוא משמש לבישול, לסיכה, להפקת אנרגיה (באמצעות שריפתם), למאור ועוד. ספיגתו בבד או בנייר מותירה כתם אופייני.
